Understanding Power County Released Inmates
A release is an exit from one authority's custody, not always a return to ordinary community life. At the Power County Jail, a person may leave on bond, recognizance, dismissal, time served, sentence completion, or a local supervision order. The same roster exit can instead mark transfer to the Idaho Department of Correction, another jail, federal custody, immigration custody, or an authorized placement.
The Power County Current Bookings roster answers who is listed now, as of its displayed time. It does not publish an out date, release reason, destination, custody history, or released archive. A missing name is therefore a clue, not proof. The strongest finding pairs that absence with a sheriff release sheet, VINE event, filed court order, IDOC status, or receiving-agency record.
Four terms that change the search
Bond release ends the jail stay while the case can continue. Transfer ends Power County custody but begins or continues custody elsewhere. Released to supervision means community placement under probation or parole rules. Discharged is IDOC's historical marker that its jurisdiction ended on the shown date.
Ways People Leave Power County Custody
The release type controls which record should confirm the event and what obligations may remain. Power County's court, sheriff, probation office, and state correctional agencies each document a different part of that path.
| Exit type | Meaning | Best next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | The person leaves jail while the criminal case remains open. | Sheriff release sheet, iCourt order, and local pretrial office where ordered |
| Time served or sentence completion | A local confinement term ends, subject to any other hold. | Judgment, jail calculation, and actual release record |
| Dismissal or court order | The court supplies legal authority to release, though processing may follow later. | iCourt chronology and filed order, paired with sheriff event record |
| Probation or parole | The person is in the community but remains under supervision. | Power County Probation or IDOC Resident/Client Search and District 6 |
| Transfer or hold | Local custody ends and another authority takes control. | IDOC, receiving jail, BOP, ICE, or the named authority |
Note: A filed release order and the physical exit may occur at different times while detention staff complete processing.
Fields in a Power County Release Record
Power County does not expose a public release-record screen. Request the existing booking and release material by full identity, booking number, and a bounded date range. The following is a useful field checklist, not a promise that every field will be disclosed. Juvenile, sealed, investigative, private, and safety-sensitive material can be withheld or redacted.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Actual release date and time | When the jail recorded the exit, rather than when a judge first authorized it |
| Release type or authority | Bond, recognizance, time served, dismissal, sentence completion, probation, or another basis |
| Destination or receiving agency | Whether the person entered the community or went to another authority, when releasable |
| Booking and charge identifiers | The booking number, incarceration date, charges, and court case tie-back |
| Property or account disposition | Any existing record of property or funds handled at exit |
| Booking photograph | The image associated with the booking, which does not prove guilt or release |
The current roster itself provides name, booking number, incarceration date and time, a booking image, counts, offense date, charge, court case number, bail amount, and bail type. Those details can identify the right booking and case, but none supplies the missing exit event.
Request a Power County Release Record
Use the Power County records-request page and its current county form. Ask for records that already exist rather than asking staff to create a narrative. The Sheriff's public office is at 550 Gifford Street, American Falls, ID 83211; telephone 208-226-2311; fax 208-226-7783. Published office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:45 p.m.
- Identify the Power County Sheriff or Detention Division and give the full name, date of birth if known, booking number, booking date, and narrow date range.
- Ask for the booking and release record with actual exit date and time, release type, public destination, identifiers, and associated booking photo.
- Choose email for an electronic copy, or select mail or pickup on the form. State that lawful redaction of nonpublic fields is acceptable.
- Ask for an itemized estimate before work begins. The form allows the agency to research cost and require payment before preparation or delivery.
- Keep any written delay, clarification, no-record, wrong-custodian, or denial response. If denied, ask for the statutory basis and follow the form's appeal instructions.
Suggested scope: “The booking and release record for the named person, with date of birth if known, booking number and date range, including actual release date/time, release type or destination, and booking photograph, electronically, with nonpublic material redacted.”
Idaho Law and Power County Release Records
Idaho Code Title 74, Chapter 1 starts with public access subject to exemptions. The Idaho Attorney General's public-records guidance says a request should include contact details and residency information. For Idaho residents, its current summary describes the first two processing hours and first 100 paper pages as free, with permitted charges after that. It also describes a three-working-day baseline to grant or deny and written notice with production within ten working days when more time is needed. Nonresident timing changed in 2024, so check the current law rather than relying on a copied deadline.
Law-enforcement, privacy, safety, juvenile, sealed, and correctional restrictions may narrow access under Idaho Code §§74-105, 74-124, and related law. A focused request improves the chance of a useful response but does not guarantee every destination or photo. Power County's form identifies an appeal path under §74-115 within 180 days.
Note: Public access rules can change, so use the live form and current statute before relying on a fee or deadline.
Bond-Out Costs for Power County Releases
The official jail page publishes unusually specific bond mechanics. It describes a separate nonrefundable $10 sheriff fee for each bond or charge unless a judge groups the charges, along with exact-payment rules and cash, surety, and property paths. Its surety illustration includes 10 percent of the bond, a $35 surety fee, and the $10 sheriff fee. Confirm the current amount and accepted method before arriving.
Bond-out is not dismissal, acquittal, or completion of the case. A cash bond may be handled later under the court's rules, while the sheriff fee remains nonrefundable. The correct release description is “released on bond” when that is what the record says.
Financial Records After a Power County Release
Some local financial entries can remain after a person exits. The jail page says the sheriff bond fee is nonrefundable, the court may apply cash bond toward fines, fees, costs, or restitution after conviction, and a negative medical-account balance may be sent for collection. These are possible procedural effects, not a statement that every released person owes money.
Use the case ledger, bond receipt, and jail account record to identify what applies. Do not infer a balance from the fact of release alone, and distinguish a refundable bond amount from a separate fee.
Search for a Released Power County Inmate
A named-person search works best as a verification ladder. Record the source and displayed “as of” time at every step because the court, roster, VINE, and IDOC can update on different clocks.
- Search the official Current Bookings roster. If listed, it supports current local booking as of the roster time. If absent, recheck spelling and do not yet call it release.
- Search Idaho VINE for the specific person. Confirm the agency and record, then inspect status or register for an event notice. If no Power County record appears, call detention.
- Call 208-226-2311 for present-custody confirmation. The official jail page says an officer may advise custody while further details remain confidential.
- Search Idaho iCourt by name or the roster's case number. Read the chronology and obtain any bond order, dismissal, judgment, probation order, commitment, or later discharge entry.
- If the case shows state commitment or felony supervision, use IDOC. If it names another jail, BOP, or ICE, follow the receiving authority instead.
- Request the narrow sheriff release sheet for the actual exit date, time, type, and public destination when online sources do not settle the question.
Why does a released person vanish? The county interface is a current list, not history. Yet removal can also mean transfer, another hold, or a correction, so absence needs an affirmative event source.
IDOC Search for Power County Released Inmates
The IDOC Resident/Client Search is the main lasting source when a Power County case entered Idaho correctional or felony-supervision jurisdiction. Search by a last name of at least two characters, with first name if useful, or by an IDOC number of at least three digits. Match birth year, IDOC number, sentencing county, and case number rather than relying on a name alone.
| IDOC field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| In community | Usually probation or parole outside prison, but read physical location because a local jail placement can also appear |
| Discharged MM/DD/YYYY | The clearest historical endpoint for IDOC jurisdiction; older satisfied results may omit conviction details |
| Released to Supervision | The latest placement on community supervision, not proof that all sentence duties ended |
| Sentence Satisfaction Date | The full-term endpoint on a sentence row; separate rows may carry different dates |
| PED or Next Hearing | Parole eligibility and hearing milestones, not actual release |
| Active Bench Warrant | A status that requires court and supervision follow-up, not a clean discharge finding |
The public detail may also show supervising district, office address, officer phone, sentence status, and retained-jurisdiction information. IDOC says the data updates daily and can change quickly. A Commission parole grant or tentative date remains prospective until the later status, VINE event, or official record confirms release.
The official search form shown below illustrates the statewide source and the identifiers it accepts. It is not the Power County current-bookings roster.

Power County Court Records Explain Release
The roster's court case number can anchor a search in Idaho iCourt or a clerk request. Power County Magistrate Court handles misdemeanors and lists adult arraignments on Monday at noon. District Court lists law-and-motion on the fourth Friday. Both local court offices are at 543 Bannock Avenue in American Falls and use 208-226-7618 extension 7.
A docket can reveal the legal reason behind the roster change: bond, dismissal, judgment, jail credit, probation, retained jurisdiction, commitment, amended judgment, or discharge. It may not record the exact physical exit time, so pair a court order with the sheriff event record or a VINE notice. If the judgment commits the person to IDOC, disappearance from the county roster points to a transfer question.
No Power County Recent-Release Archive
As of the July 16, 2026 research, the Sheriff published no official released list, 24-hour view, 72-hour view, adjustable release window, or archive. The timestamp on Current Bookings changed during same-day review, which supports only that it appears to refresh during the day. No guaranteed cadence, removal lag, or retention period is stated.
For same-day questions, use the verification ladder rather than relabeling current detainees as releases. The recent-release workflow must focus on current roster time, VINE, phone confirmation, court activity, and the formal record because no official feed was found.
Note: Power County AlertSense and Sheriff social posts are not systematic jail release feeds and cannot replace the release sheet.
Supervision After a Power County Release
Power County has two separate supervision routes. The county office at 543 Bannock Avenue, second floor, supervises adult misdemeanor probation and felony or misdemeanor pretrial release. It can be reached at 208-226-2522 during its published Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. hours. A person who bonds out under local pretrial terms may report there without becoming an IDOC parole client.
IDOC District 6 at 1246 Yellowstone Avenue, Suite F, Pocatello supervises state probation and parole in Power and five neighboring counties. Start with the person's IDOC detail, then call 208-237-9194 if the listed office needs confirmation. The Commission decides discretionary parole while IDOC carries out state community supervision.
Power County Release Alerts and Other Authorities
Idaho VINE provides person and case information with notification options. The Power County Sheriff expressly promotes release, transfer, escape, and court-event alerts. Search the individual record, confirm Power County or IDOC as the feeder, and register only against the correct match. No static official list reviewed named every county feeder, so a failed result should lead to a jail call, not a release claim.
For a federal sentence, use the BOP Inmate Locator. A past date with “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” means the person is no longer held by BOP, but does not rule out supervised release or another authority. “In Transit” is not release. ICE's locator is the right source for current detainees and people released from ICE custody within its stated 60-day window. A transfer from Power County to ICE is continued custody, and an ICE release does not end immigration proceedings by itself.
Where Power County Release Status Appears
Each system answers a narrower question. Use the source tied to the authority that held or received the person, and reconcile sources when local and state records overlap.
| Source | A positive result establishes | Absence does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Power County Current Bookings | Current local listing at the shown time | Community release or lack of another hold |
| Sheriff release record | The releasable local booking and exit event | End of custody with a receiving authority |
| IDOC Resident/Client Search | State status, custody, supervision, and sentence fields | A county-only, federal, or immediate same-day release |
| iCourt and clerk records | Filed bond, disposition, sentence, and order history | Exact physical exit time unless the record says so |
| BOP or ICE locator | The displayed federal or immigration custody event | Release from every other authority |
Getting Home After a Power County Release
Pocatello Regional Transit publishes demand-responsive service in Power County, including American Falls, but it is not a jail-arranged shuttle. Its January 2025 guide required reservations by 4 p.m. one business day ahead at 208-234-2287. That advance rule may not fit an unexpected release.
The same guide listed different fare zones and limited service days. Recheck the current Power County transit guide before making plans because times and fares can change. Detention publishes no official exit door, waiting area, weekend procedure, or release-processing time, so call 208-226-2311 for current logistics.
Identification After a Power County Release
Power County provides driver-license and identification-card service at the same 550 Gifford Street sheriff location. That is a practical local starting point for replacing identification after release. The service page's fee text appeared internally inconsistent during research, so consult the current county ID page instead of relying on a copied fee.
If a public record contains an error, contact the agency that created it and identify the exact field, source date, and supporting document. A court disposition problem belongs with the clerk; a booking event belongs with the Sheriff; an IDOC status issue belongs with IDOC.
Clean Slate and Old Power County Records
Idaho's Clean Slate Act can shield a qualifying record from public disclosure rather than destroy it. Official instructions generally require at least five years after completion of the entire sentence, including supervision, fines, and restitution, and impose offense and petition limits. A real older Power County case can therefore disappear from public iCourt access after lawful shielding.
When an older case is missing, check spelling, migrated data, access restrictions, sealing, and the official Clean Slate guidance. Do not fill a gap with an unsupported offense or release claim. IDOC's historical “Discharged” status with a date may preserve the state endpoint even when conviction details no longer appear.
Power County Jail in Local Context
A county comprehensive plan from around 2018 described a 30-bed jail, with 21 male and nine female beds, staffed by nine detention deputies. It described the oldest jail portion as built in 1963 and the newest portion in 1980. These are dated planning facts, not a current capacity or staffing certification.
The older, small-facility context helps explain the homegrown roster, but it does not justify assumptions about present operations. Current questions about release processing, property, or waiting arrangements should go directly to detention.
Facilities Serving Power County Releases
Power County Jail is the adult county facility and the source of the current booking record. A direct exit may lead to the community or local supervision, while a transfer can lead to IDOC, another jail, federal or immigration custody, or another authorized destination.
District VI Juvenile Detention Center is in Pocatello and serves the judicial district. It is listed to keep users from searching the adult roster for juvenile information. Juvenile custody and release verification is restricted and belongs with the juvenile court, counsel, a guardian-authorized contact, or Power County Juvenile Probation.
